Pastor Allen

Christmas is my favorite time of year. One of the things I love about Christmas is family Christmas traditions. Over the years our family has developed several. We have a list of movies we watch every year, chocolate covered candies that we make, eggnog that we drink (the Baptist non-alcoholic kind of course), and we make our own pizza for dinner on Christmas Eve.

By far, my favorite tradition is reading the Christmas story from Luke chapter 2 the night of Christmas Eve right before the kids go to bed. Each year as the children get older, they understand the Christmas story a little better. As each of them come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior, the story becomes personal to them. It has been one of the great joys as parents for Mandy and I to watch that take place.

In Luke 2:10, the angel of the Lord announces the birth of Jesus to the shepherds.

But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: Today a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord, was born for you in the city of David. ~Luke 2:10-11

The truly amazing thing about the Christmas story is that it’s for everyone. No matter who you are or where you come from, it can be your personal story. This year, maybe even a little more than in years past, I’m praying for the lost. That more people will discover the beauty of the Christmas story through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
I pray that you and your family will have a blessed Christmas this year!

Sincerely,
Pastor Allen
