“But when the fullness of time came, God sent forth His Son” ~Galatians 4:4a
The fullness of time – that phrase always grabs my attention. God’s perfect redemption plan was ready to unfold and at the precise moment He intended it to happen. After centuries had come and gone and the fullness of time had been completed, “the Word became flesh” (John 1:14). The thought of all the hope, love, joy and peace that entered into our world on that quiet night in Bethlehem draws my heart into worship. When I slow down and really think about the moment that changed the world forever my soul is stirred to adore Him.
I will admit that I love to sing and worship the Lord anytime, but worship through Christmas music is my favorite. There is something so overwhelming when I concentrate on the words of Christmas worship songs….both old and new…that cultivate such powerful moments of praise. To celebrate the gift of God’s Son and have that thrill of hope so now the weary world can rejoice. It truly makes me want to fall on my knees and long to hear the angels voices.
As we sing those songs year after year we can grow numb to the message they were meant to convey. We tend to downplay the miraculous event that transpired and the story gets so familiar that it loses its wonder. Christmas, when the very Son of God entered our world fulfilling prophecy and proclaiming that God will do what He says He will do. Christmas is a promise kept.
How can we not respond in worship that is full of praise and thanksgiving for the gift the world received that night and all that little baby’s life and death would provide for us.
“Nails, spears shall pierce Him through
The cross He bore, for me for you
Hail, hail the Word made flesh
The Babe, the Son of Mary”
May the music of Christmas bless your heart as much as it does mine.
Merry Christmas!
